TU Vienna

The DSG group at TU Vienna is one of the fastest growing research groups in the field of Elastic Computing and Business Process Management, showing impressive academic achievements, significant third party funded research projects and major industry linkages.

Vienna University of Technology (TUV) was founded in 1815 as Imperial-Royal Polytechnical Institute. It was the first University of Technology within present-day German-speaking Europe. Today, the university finds high international and domestic recognition in teaching as well as in research and is a highly esteemed partner of innovation-oriented enterprises.

Within the Distributed Systems Group (DSG) of the Information Systems Institute at TUV, 30 researchers conduct teaching and research in distributed computing with particular emphasis on Cloud computing, Service-oriented Computing, context-awareness, and network technologies. The group is headed by Prof. Schahram Dustdar. DSG has participated (respectively still participates) in a large number of European projects such as, for example, the European Network of Excellence in Software Services and Systems “S-Cube”, “CELAR” (Cloud Elasticity Provisioning), or “INDENICA” (Engineering Virtual Domain-Specific Service Platforms), and has also coordinated a number of European projects such as, for example, the currently running “SIMPLI-CITY – The Road User Information System of the Future”, “COMPAS” (Compliance-driven Models, Languages, and Architectures for Services), or “inContext” (Interaction and context based technologies for collaborative teams).
